We are misusing the word ‘FONT’. Next time you want to express undying love/hate to Comic Sans - use the word ‘TYPEFACE’.
TYPEFACE refers to a specific design of letterforms, including the alphabet, numbers, and glyphs. A typeface might come in a family of light, regular, bold, ultra-bold, and many other weights. Comic Sans and Papyrus are Typeface.
FONT refers to a specific instance of a typeface. A font is a set of characters in a particular size, weight, and style. Comic Sans 12pt bold, is a font.
